Ok, I don’t usually like to report reviews and comments of any sort because there are the shared items in my Google reader and other blogs for that. But looking at the news reports from my company’s intranet I found the Asus Eee PC 4G 701 (nice review here) mini laptop, which is simply astonishing for its price tag!!! This ASUS is slim, it’s sleek, it’s cheap and I want one!
It’s $399.99 from Amazon.com which is equivalent to 192 British pounds with the current rates. This is definitely value for money!
Just to give you a comparison (apart from iPhone the following prices might not be the cheapest - I just browsed quickly around the most popular sites):
iPhone: £269 + 18 months contract starting at 35£ month.
Nokia E90: £299 + 18 months contract as the iPhone.
Nokia N800: £219 no contract.
Nokia N810: £319 no contract.
Ok, all of them cannot be strictly compared to the ASUS laptop, because of target audience, size, weight etc… However, if vendors can produce such a great product at this price, I think Nokia is going to be against some really tough competition in the future… what if in the future it will have a detachable part, which is going to be your mobile and spare battery for the laptop. For the price of a mobile, you’ll get a mobile and a small stylish laptop perhaps subsidised by the operator…
I wonder where this is heading…

OMG that idea is genius!!! I want one too! It’s so light and portable, you could just slip it into your purse before heading off to Starbucks
I love it!
