Adobe Photoshop Express

Whoooa, I was going to write about how compelling are becoming Web2.0 online applications compared to self-hosted solutions and another big player just beefed up their online solution: Adobe. The new service is Adobe Photoshop Express and can also be used to edit pictures (similar to Picnik in Flickr) but this is completely flash, so you can imagine quite well how good the interface is…

After years of procrastination I finally decided to do a proper self-hosted photo gallery. So I quickly made one based on the great zenphoto software and I was showing a small test to a friend. The gallery is 90% html-based but there is one small part in flash… guess which one caught the attention of my friend? The gallery that is based on flash (arghhh… all that work for nothing). Have to say, compared to Flickr and Ovi my gallery was ok, but it’s really pitiful compared to Adobe’s one ;-)

It was about time and I wonder why Adobe was so late on this one. Also, I’m really curious to see if they are going to attract any Flickr users now…Hopefully we are going to see some major improvement in the web interface of Flickr and other imaging services. Anyway, the editing is of course basic but the gallery is really good looking and there are 2GB of free space… so it might be your cup of tea ;-)
The application is still beta but you can “test drive” it without registering.
