Wasting my time reading iPhone news

December 7th, 2007 · No Comments

It’s amazing how people will report any piece of news that says iPhone in the title, even when it’s not true or it’s completely useless… What a waste of time!

Ok, first look at the following “Operating System Market Share for November from marketshare.hitslink.com”. Then google for “iphone browser share” and you’ll get a list of articles based on this chart. Then read this and you’ll realise that you just wasted approx 30 minutes of your precious time.

Ok, now read “Apple iPhone outsells LG Prada, HTC Touch, Nokia N95 in Europe” from Intomobile. At the bottom you’ll find the source. So, please go and read Apple: European iPhone Sales Solid, RBC Says as well. The best quote about the iPhone is that it is “outselling some competitive smartphones at O2, Orange and T-Mobile stores, including the Nokia (NOK) N95 and E-Series, the Samsung Blackjack, LG PRada and HTC Touch and Herald.”

Although I cannot comment on the exact figures (and confirm if it’s true or not), I can tell you that is most useless remark that someone can make unless is promoting the iPhone. There are mainly two reasons:

  • The N95 was launched in March 2007, almost 9 months ago. It’s clear that it won’t be selling as much as a new product like the iPhone!
  • The N95 is only one of several Nokia products which is targeting a specific niche of Nokia customers. Apple, instead, has only one product and it’s quite obvious once again that it will more likely outsell the N95 because the N95 is “losing sells” to Nokia E90, E61 and other Nokia products.

The news was taken from a website owned by “Dow Jones & Company, Inc.” so I’m surprised about this remarks. You invest in Nokia and/or Apple not N95 and/or iPhone.

The only fact so far is the guy forecast (“He sees 4 million units selling in Europe in calendar 2008; he raised his forecast for total calendar 2008 iPhone units to 12.5 million from 12.1 million.”)

PS. Nokia sold nearly 4 million N95 as end of Q3 2007
